The lighting in the kid’s rooms is different from that in the adult rooms. Since the visual system of infants and kids is not mature enough, their eyes are fragile and sensitive to light and they like to stare at certain things or people.
A light with low brightness is required when infants and kids wake up during the night, whereas the excessive brightness of lights may irritate their eyes and prevent them from falling back to sleep.
In the kid’s room, bright light, such as the sun shining on the books, will cause a strong reflection that irritates the eyes, while weak light will drive the head forward close to the books. As a result, the inappropriate brightness may lead to myopia.

The sensitivity to light varies greatly between different livestock and poultry, and typically, chickens are very sensitive to light. Most of the chickens in the brooding period (generally 0 to 6 weeks old) require exposure to light of 23 to 18.5 hours, with an illumination intensity of 5 to 20 lux. Those in the rearing period (generally 7 to 18 weeks old) require exposure to light of 8 to 9 hours, with an illumination intensity of 5 to 10 lux.
Many growers may neglect lighting in traditional greenhouse planting where the artificial lighting is essential in late fall and winter, or on cloudy and overcast days. For example, strawberry leaves have a light saturation point of 20,000 to 30,000 lux, and a light compensation point of 5,000 to 10,000 lux. Strawberry leaves require artificial lighting when the illumination intensity is 20,000 lux at noon on a sunny winter day.
